Tiwa Savage Names Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid As Her Biggest Inspirations

Savage made this known in an interview with Rolling Stone Africa, where she explained that her musical inspiration comes from a wide range of sources, including her contemporaries in the industry.

She listed Nigerian stars Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy alongside American singer Brandy and the jazz genre, while noting that her ultimate inspiration is God.

“I am inspired by so many people. Musically, I am inspired by Brandy… I also listen to Jazz… I am inspired by my peers. You know, Wiz, Burna, David. You know, everybody. I am inspired by so many people but I look up to God,” she said.

Her comments come months after she openly challenged the popular “Big 3” label often used to describe Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy as Nigeria’s leading global music exports, arguing that the narrative often excludes prominent female artistes in Afrobeats.

She further noted that structural advantages and promotional resources in the industry influence visibility and airplay, adding that discussions around top performers should also recognize artistes like Tems.
