Hamzat Clears APC Screening Committee Hurdle

According to reports, Hamzat appeared before the party’s screening committee in Abuja on Saturday, where he was successfully vetted and approved to proceed to the next stage of the selection process.

Reacting to the development, Hamzat expressed appreciation to the party for granting him clearance and reaffirmed his commitment to public service and the continued development of Lagos State.

In a message shared on his verified account, the deputy governor said the journey was centered on service to Lagos residents and a determination to build on the achievements already recorded in the state.

He noted that a strong foundation had been laid and emphasized his readiness to take Lagos to greater and more inclusive heights if given the opportunity.

Hamzat added that he remains focused on working with the people to advance the progress of the state.

Meanwhile, indications have emerged of a growing rift within the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), the umbrella body of governors elected on the platform of the APC.

Reports suggest that competing factions have surfaced within the forum, signaling internal tensions as political alignments begin to take shape ahead of the 2027 elections.

Imo State Governor and Chairman of the forum, Hope Uzodinma, is said to have maintained that he remains in control of the PGF alongside Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani.

However, another group within the forum is reportedly rallying behind Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who are believed to be coordinating a separate bloc.

Although neither side has officially commented on the situation, party insiders disclosed that disagreements over leadership and strategic positioning have intensified as preparations for the 2027 electoral cycle gather momentum.
