The Federal Ministry of Works has announced a partial closure of sections of the Ikorodu-Sagamu Road beginning Monday as reconstruction efforts intensify on the major highway.

According to an official statement issued by the Federal Controller of Works in Ogun State, Mr. Olayiwola Komolafe, the temporary traffic arrangement follows a directive by the Minister of Works, David Umahi, instructing the contractor, Arab Contractors, to return to critical portions of the road and accelerate the completion of the project.

The affected areas include the stretch between Ikorodu Roundabout and Sabo Junction in Lagos, as well as the section from Cement to Coca-Cola inward Sagamu.

Motorists travelling from Ikorodu toward Sagamu will be directed through the construction zones using a counterflow system while work is underway.

The ministry stated that the reconstruction is expected to last approximately three months. This period is intended to allow the contractor to complete the roadworks and ensure that the rigid pavement receives adequate time to cure properly.

Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will be deployed to the affected sections to manage vehicular movement and minimise congestion throughout the construction period.

Authorities have appealed to motorists and other road users to cooperate with traffic officials and security personnel assigned to maintain order along the corridor.

The ministry acknowledged that the ongoing reconstruction may cause temporary inconvenience to commuters and residents but assured the public that every effort is being made to complete the project as quickly as possible.
