According to Ireporter Online, Galatasaray vice-president Abdullah Kavukcu has disclosed that Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta was taken aback by the huge financial outlay involved in Victor Osimhen’s transfer to Istanbul, following the Nigerian striker’s permanent switch to the Turkish champions last summer after a successful loan spell from Napoli.

Osimhen, who previously attracted strong interest from Arsenal and several Saudi Arabian clubs, completed a high-profile move after Galatasaray activated his €75 million release clause to secure his services from Napoli, ending his five-year stay in Italy. The deal reportedly places him among the top earners in the Turkish Super Lig, with a guaranteed annual salary of €15 million, alongside a €1 million loyalty bonus and €5 million per year from image rights, bringing the total projected club commitment to around €159 million over four years.

Kavukcu, speaking in an interview with HT Spor as cited by Haber Sarikirmizi, stated that the club remains unwilling to sell the forward even in the face of record-breaking offers, stressing that any final decision would rest with the club president. He also noted that replacing a player of Osimhen’s calibre would be extremely difficult if he were ever sold. According to him, the Arsenal official who recently visited the club expressed surprise at the scale of Galatasaray’s financial commitment, even as he compared budgets between both sides.

Beyond his on-field impact, Kavukcu highlighted Osimhen’s commercial value to the club, revealing that his presence has already generated significant revenue through sponsorship and advertising deals, further justifying the ambitious investment made by the Istanbul giants.
