The All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed its House of Representatives primary election for the 2027 general elections by one day.

According to a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the exercise earlier scheduled for Friday, May 15, will now take place on Saturday, May 16.

The ruling party clarified that the adjustment affects only the House of Representatives primary election, while all other primaries will proceed as originally scheduled.

Under the timetable approved by the party leadership, Senate primaries are expected to hold on Monday, May 18, followed by State Houses of Assembly primaries on Wednesday, May 20. Governorship primaries are slated for Thursday, May 21, while the presidential primary election is scheduled for Saturday, May 23.

No official explanation was provided for the sudden postponement, which was announced just hours before delegates and party officials were expected to commence the House of Representatives primaries across the country.

Despite the change, preparations for the remaining primaries are continuing in line with the party’s approved schedule.

The APC has intensified activities ahead of the 2027 elections, including the screening of aspirants seeking nomination for various elective positions.

Party leaders have also called on members and aspirants to conduct themselves peacefully and uphold the principles of internal democracy throughout the exercise, warning against actions that could undermine unity within the party.
