Delta Police Bust Alleged Cult Kingpin, Arrest 10 Suspects In Major Raid

According to security reports, the operations led to the recovery of firearms, live ammunition, and other dangerous weapons believed to have been used in criminal activities.

Police spokesperson, Superintendent Bright Edafe, disclosed that on May 14, operatives of the Buffalo Patrol Team responded to a distress call and raided a suspected cult hideout located at Eagle Square along Okpanam Road in Asaba.

During the raid, seven male suspects and two female suspects were apprehended. Items recovered at the scene included a Beretta pistol, a battle axe, and a cutlass. The suspects and exhibits were subsequently handed over to the Command’s Anti-Cult Unit for further investigation.

In a separate operation carried out on the same day, officers attached to the Safer Highway Patrol Team intercepted a Lexus Jeep with registration number KWL 139 CY during a stop-and-search exercise along the Ughelli-Patani Road.

A search of the vehicle, driven by Felix Ike, resulted in the discovery of an English-made pump-action gun and 40 rounds of live cartridges.

The crackdown continued on May 15 when operatives of the Anti-Cult Unit arrested Christopher Ogidigbo, identified by investigators as a suspected leader of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity. Ogidigbo, a native of Ogharefe Town in Ethiope West Local Government Area, was found in possession of a locally made revolver pistol.

Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the officers involved in the operations for their professionalism and swift response. He reiterated the Command’s resolve to intensify efforts against cultism, illegal possession of firearms, and other criminal activities in Delta State.
