FirstBank, Visa Launch Premium Multi-Currency Cards

The new offerings were unveiled at a ceremony in Lagos, where bank officials described the launch as a significant step in delivering more flexible, secure and globally connected payment solutions.

Speaking at the event, the Head of Cards and Messaging Services at First Bank, Obianuju Ondo-Okereke, stated that the dual rollout reflects the bank’s commitment to meeting the unique needs of both premium and everyday customers. She explained that while the Visa Signature Card is designed for high-net-worth individuals seeking enhanced global payment capabilities and lifestyle benefits, the Naira Visa Debit Card is tailored to customers who require convenient and accessible payment solutions.

According to the bank, the premium Visa Signature Card is equipped with multi-currency functionality, enabling users to transact seamlessly in naira, US dollars, British pounds and euros using a single chip-enabled card. The product also offers a range of exclusive benefits, including 24-hour concierge services, access to international airport lounges, travel insurance and emergency medical support.

Vice President and Cluster Head for Visa West Africa, Andrew Uaboi, said the collaboration underscores the shared commitment of both institutions to provide financial products that align with the evolving needs of customers at every stage of their financial journey.

First Bank also assured customers that the cards are powered by advanced chip-and-PIN security technology to ensure safe and secure transactions.

The bank disclosed that the Naira Visa Debit Card is available for immediate issuance at all its branches nationwide at the Central Bank of Nigeria-approved fee of ₦1,000. The Visa Signature Card comes with a default daily transaction limit of ₦3 million, with the option for customers to request higher limits if needed. Delivery of the premium card is expected within 24 to 48 hours, depending on location.

Also speaking at the event, the Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at First Bank, Yinka Ijabiyi, expressed appreciation to partners and stakeholders for supporting efforts to promote innovation and deepen financial inclusion in Nigeria.
