Dollar To Naira Exchange Rate For Today, May 21, 2026
The Dollar to Naira exchange rate at the parallel market, popularly known as the black market or Aboki FX, recorded slight fluctuations on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, as traders continued forex transactions across major exchange hubs in Lagos.
According to market sources familiar with Bureau De Change (BDC) activities, the United States Dollar exchanged at an average selling rate of ₦1,399, while buyers purchased the currency at ₦1,386 in the Lagos parallel market.
Reports indicate that the black market remains one of the major alternatives for Nigerians seeking foreign exchange despite repeated warnings and regulations issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The apex bank has consistently maintained that it does not recognize transactions carried out in the parallel market and has advised individuals and businesses seeking forex to obtain it through authorized financial institutions and commercial banks.
Meanwhile, data from the official CBN window showed that the Dollar traded between a highest rate of ₦1,374 and a lowest rate of ₦1,372 during the same trading period.
Currency traders also noted that exchange rates in the forex market may vary depending on location, demand, and transaction volume, meaning the actual buying or selling price could differ slightly from prevailing market figures.
