According to Ireporter Online, Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has decried what she described as increasing online bullying targeted at members of the creative industry, especially actors and filmmakers who share their work or personal opinions on social media.

The actress, in a post shared via her handle, expressed concern over the treatment of entertainers, noting that they are often criticised or labelled insensitive whenever they promote their projects during periods of national hardship.

She further explained that film production is a capital-intensive venture, often funded through high-interest loans, stressing that it is unfair to expect industry practitioners to abandon their professional obligations in order to constantly focus on issues such as insecurity or government policies online.

Amusa also stated that she has deliberately chosen not to build her brand around public approval, insisting that she would not be pressured by online critics or “trolls” in the way she uses her platform.

While reacting to the broader discourse, she maintained that negative comments would not deter her, adding that she has alternative sources of income and would not tolerate disrespect on her page.

She, however, expressed sympathy for victims of insecurity, offering prayers for the safe return of abducted pupils and teachers in Oyo State.
