Tinubu To Nyesom Wike: “You Have Not Disappointed Me

The President made the remarks on Friday during the inauguration of Collector Road CN2, also known as Emmanuel Okanla Boulevard, alongside other road projects in the Katampe District of Abuja. He was represented at the event by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Tinubu noted that from the transformation of abandoned road corridors into modern boulevards to the execution of water projects and judicial infrastructure, the FCT Minister had demonstrated consistency and commitment to results. He added that Wike’s performance had earned him the informal title “Mr Project” among residents of the capital city.

The President further stated that the ongoing infrastructure developments were clear evidence of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, adding that the newly completed roads were restoring public confidence in governance. He also highlighted the installation of solar-powered streetlights along major routes, noting that it had improved security and revived nightlife activities within the capital.

In his response, Wike explained that the Katampe road project was designed to bridge critical infrastructure gaps following the completion of adjoining road networks. He said the development had opened up the area for real estate expansion and economic activities, stressing that visible construction projects across Abuja were proof of ongoing development.

Wike also disclosed that the FCT Administration was extending infrastructure to satellite communities, including newly completed roads linking Tungan-Madaki, and revealed plans to commission a water supply project in Karu to improve access to potable water.

The Minister of State for the FCT, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, described the project as a reflection of the President’s vision of using infrastructure to drive inclusive growth and improved living standards. Meanwhile, the Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, Richard Dauda, explained that the road network spans 3.9 kilometres and includes drainage systems, water pipelines, sewer infrastructure, telecommunications ducts, solar lighting, walkways, and green spaces.

He added that the project would enhance connectivity between Katampe and surrounding districts such as Mabushi, Jahi, and Maitama, while also opening new corridors for residential and commercial development.
