TikTok sensation Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, and his associate, Bello Oladipo, have been granted ₦500,000 bail by a Lagos Magistrate Court following their arraignment over allegations of obstructing police officers during an operation.

According to reports, the court approved the bail after the duo pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them by the Lagos State Police Command.

The court ordered both defendants to provide two sureties as part of the bail conditions, with one of the sureties required to be a blood relative. They were also directed to submit tax clearance certificates covering two years before the bail process could be concluded.

The case was subsequently adjourned until August 11 for further hearing.

According to Linda Ikeji’s report, the charges stemmed from an incident on July 2 along Coastal Road in Lekki, Lagos, where police officers allegedly stopped Peller over a vehicle suspected to have been driven without number plates.

Reports indicate that Peller explained that the vehicle was newly acquired, but the officers reportedly insisted that he follow them to the station for further clarification.

The encounter reportedly escalated after the content creator began recording the incident with his mobile phone. Peller later accused the officers of using excessive force during the confrontation, while the police command rejected the claims and proceeded with legal action against him and Oladipo.

The duo are facing allegations bordering on resisting police officers, obstructing officers from performing their official duties, and engaging in actions capable of causing a breach of public peace.
