ADC Snubs Ogundipe, Throws Support Behind Another Ogun Governorship Candidate

Speaking during a press briefing in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Secretary of the party, Olusoji Agbebiyi, stated that the state leadership had no knowledge of any primary election or internal process that produced Ogundipe as the party’s governorship candidate. He stressed that the ADC had not conducted any exercise that could have resulted in Ogundipe’s emergence and urged him to stop presenting himself to the public as the party’s candidate.

Agbebiyi alleged that certain unnamed individuals were backing Ogundipe in a bid to create instability within the party and derail its preparations for the 2027 general election. He maintained that the ADC had never endorsed Ogundipe and warned members of the public against being misled by such claims.

The party secretary reiterated that Hon. Jimi Lawal remains the only recognised governorship candidate of the ADC in Ogun State, insisting that Ogundipe neither enjoys the party’s backing nor qualifies to contest under its platform.

He further alleged that Ogundipe’s activities were part of efforts by some interests to sow confusion within the party, stressing that the ADC would not allow such actions to distract it from its political objectives.

Addressing reports of an alleged leadership crisis, Agbebiyi dismissed suggestions that the Ogun State chapter of the ADC had split into factions. He explained that the party remained united, with all members of the state executive working together from its official secretariat in Itoko.

He also appealed to party supporters to remain calm and patient, assuring them that any internal concerns would be resolved in due course. Agbebiyi expressed confidence that the ADC would successfully overcome its challenges and remain a formidable force ahead of the 2027 general election.
