Alausa Applauds Olukoyede, Declares EFCC ‘Cleanest Ever’ Under Tinubu

According to reports, Alausa made the remarks on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, during a visit to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, where a delegation from the Ministry of Education received recovered items forfeited to the Federal Government from a cybercrime investigation.

The items, which included 501 double-step bunk beds, 939 mattresses, and 12 wooden beds with mattresses, were recovered through a special operation known as Operation Eagle Flush.

Commending the EFCC chairman, the minister said Olukoyede’s leadership had brought a new level of professionalism and credibility to the commission.

“Chairman, I commend you for bringing the highest level of standards to the EFCC,” Alausa said.

He also praised President Bola Tinubu for appointing Olukoyede to lead the anti-graft agency, describing the President’s ability to select capable individuals for key positions as exceptional.

Alausa stated that the EFCC under Olukoyede had maintained a strong commitment to the rule of law and had not been used as a tool to intimidate or target innocent Nigerians.

He said the commission had recorded significant progress in tackling corruption by moving beyond a reactive approach and focusing on identifying major areas where corruption thrives, particularly in government procurement processes.

The minister noted that the recovered items would be distributed to unity colleges across the country, adding that the education sector had benefited greatly from the EFCC’s asset recovery initiatives.

Meanwhile, Olukoyede explained that the donation reflected the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring that proceeds recovered from criminal activities are redirected towards improving the lives of Nigerians, especially children and young people.

The EFCC chairman revealed that 792 suspects, including 193 foreign nationals, were arrested and investigated during Operation Eagle Flush. He added that those found guilty were convicted, while the foreign nationals were deported to their respective countries.

Olukoyede said the decision to transfer the recovered facilities to the Ministry of Education was in line with the provisions of the Proceeds of Crime Act and the government’s efforts to enhance the quality of education nationwide.

He stressed that children and youths are among the biggest victims of corruption and should therefore be among the first beneficiaries of recovered assets.

The EFCC chairman further highlighted previous interventions by the commission, including the allocation of ₦50 billion in recovered funds to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and the conversion of Nok University into a Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, Kaduna State.

He assured Nigerians that the EFCC would continue recovering proceeds of crime and ensuring that such assets are transparently and effectively deployed for public benefit.
