The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State has recorded a major political boost following the defection of more than 10,000 members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into its fold.

According to Ireporter Online, the new entrants, which included several local government party chairmen and prominent political stakeholders, were formally received into the ruling party during a ceremony held at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.

Governor Nasir Idris, while welcoming the defectors, assured them of equal opportunities and full integration into the APC, describing the party as an inclusive platform open to individuals from different political backgrounds.

The governor urged the new members to work closely with existing party leaders and supporters to strengthen the APC’s structure across the state, especially ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Idris further called on party officials at all levels to ensure that the defectors were properly integrated into the activities of the party, stressing that unity and cooperation remained key to achieving greater success.

He maintained that the APC would continue to promote inclusive participation and provide a level playing field for all members regardless of when they joined the party.

Speaking on behalf of supporters loyal to ADC chieftain, Senator Garba Musa Maidoki, Bello Doya said their decision to move to the APC was influenced by the developmental projects and leadership style of Governor Idris.

Doya praised the governor’s administration for being transparent and people-focused, noting that the group decided to align with the ruling party to support its development agenda in the state.

In a related development, the Chairman of the PDP Local Government Chairmen’s Association in Kebbi State also announced his defection to the APC alongside other party officials.

Representing the PDP defectors, Bunza Local Government Chairman, Bello Manti, said their decision was driven by Governor Idris’ achievements and his approach to governance.

Manti stated that the governor’s inclusive leadership and visible impact across the state convinced them that the APC provided a better platform to advance the interests of the people.

Among the PDP officials who reportedly joined the APC were local government party chairmen from Dandi, Koko/Besse, Arewa, Zuru, Ngaski, Yauri, Shanga, Danko-Wasagu, Sakaba and Aliero Local Government Areas.
