APC Sweeps Ebonyi LG Poll, Wins All 13 Chairmanship Seats

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded a clean sweep in the Ebonyi State local government election, winning all 13 chairmanship positions and 171 councillorship seats contested across the state.

According to IREPORTERONLINE, the results were announced by the Chairman of the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC), Patrick Enyi, at the commission’s headquarters on Onwe Road, Abakaliki.

Among the notable winners was Osborn Umahi, son of the Minister of Works, David Umahi, who emerged as the chairman-elect of Ohaozara Local Government Area.

Other APC candidates declared winners include Peace Agwu in Ishielu, Paul Ituma in Ohaukwu, Friday Nwuhuo in Ezza North and Chinedu Mkpuma in Ezza South.

Chidi Nwode won in Ikwo, while Timothy Nwachi emerged victorious in Afikpo. Ikechukwu Ogbofia was declared winner in Onicha, Michael Kalu Anyim won in Ivo, and Simeon Onuoha secured victory in Edda.

The remaining chairmanship positions went to Helen Aduga in Izzi, Chidiebere Alo in Abakaliki and Chibueze Odigwe in Ebonyi Local Government Area.

While announcing the results, Enyi described the election as peaceful and free, noting that candidates from other political parties also participated in the exercise.

He commended residents who turned out to vote, saying their participation reflected their commitment to exercising their constitutional rights. The EBSIEC chairman also praised security agencies for their support before and during the election.

Reacting to his victory, Umahi thanked the electoral commission for what he described as the transparent and peaceful conduct of the poll.

The Ohaozara chairman-elect pledged to prioritise rural development, youth empowerment and agricultural transformation during his tenure.

Meanwhile, Ebonyi APC Chairman, Stanley Okoro Emegha, described the party’s sweeping victory as evidence of its growing popularity across the state.

Emegha said the result demonstrated increasing acceptance of the APC among Ebonyi residents and expressed confidence that the party would build on the achievement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
