Jigawa PDP Names 45-Member Team For 2027 Governorship Poll

The Jigawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has stepped up preparations for the 2027 governorship election with the inauguration of a 45-member campaign council led by the party’s governorship candidate, Mustapha Lamido.

According to Ireporter Online, the campaign council will coordinate the party’s mobilisation and political engagement across the 27 local government areas of Jigawa State ahead of the election.

Lamido announced the composition of the council in a statement issued in Dutse, expressing confidence that the team would strengthen the PDP’s grassroots structure and improve its chances in the 2027 governorship race.

Inuwa Tahir was appointed Deputy Chairman of the campaign council, while Senator Mustapha Khabeeb was named Vice Chairman I for Jigawa Central.

Ambassador Ibrahim Kazaure was appointed Vice Chairman II for the North-West, while Yusuf Dunari will serve as Vice Chairman III for the North-East.

The campaign council also includes several prominent politicians, party leaders and stakeholders, including former Inspector-General of Police Suleiman Abba, Dr Nuraddeen Mohammed, former deputy governorship candidate Babandi Gumel, Dr Aminu Taura and Professor Mustapha Jarumi.

Other members include serving and former lawmakers, party leaders and grassroots mobilisers drawn from different parts of the state.

Lamido said the inclusion of members of the party’s State Working Committee and grassroots leaders was aimed at expanding the PDP’s reach and strengthening mobilisation efforts across Jigawa.

The PDP governorship candidate also announced the establishment of a separate campaign directorate that will oversee the day-to-day activities of the campaign.

Shehu Liman Wan was appointed Director-General of the campaign directorate, while Nasir Mohammed will serve as Secretary.

Nuraddeen Muhammad was named Director of Strategy and Mobilisation, while former Inspector-General of Police Suleiman Abba will head the Directorate of Security.

Aminu Abubakar was appointed Director of Finance, while Umar Kyari will oversee Media and Publicity.

Umar Birniwa was named Director of Planning, Research, Organisation and Documentation, with Fahad Hashim appointed to lead Youth and Support Groups.

Murja Garki will head the Women Mobilisation Directorate.

Lamido expressed optimism that the newly constituted campaign structure would work effectively to deliver victory for the PDP in the 2027 governorship election.

The PDP candidate secured the party’s governorship ticket in May after emerging as the sole aspirant for the position and was subsequently affirmed as the party’s candidate.
