Thirty-five-year-old security expert, Chuwang Daniel, yesterday declared to run for President on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The aspirant, who hails from Cross River State, described himself as “The New Hope for Nigeria,” saying the time has come to fix the country.
He said: “No sincere citizen, including those in power, would say this nation is a working environment and go sleep with two eyes closed.
“I see myself with lots of great minds teaming up to ‘Make Nigeria Work’ as ‘The New Hope,’ who won’t fail or get elected and play the blame game instead of wiping off insecurity, fixing the economy, giving Nigeria and Nigerians a global advantage. I plead with you all to support this vision.”
Daniel added:” Our economy is beyond bad to terribly scary. Most Nigerians are not living, but waking up daily to seek survival instead of waking up to live. This has given birth to all sorts of crimes in our society.”
The aspirant told reporters in Lagos that innovation, productivity and equity are now rare in Nigeria.
He regretted that “criminals are rehabilitated”, sponsored to foreign lands and absorbed into sacred institutions, while law-abiding protesters and farmers calling for good governance daily lose their lives and get arrested for saying the truth.

Daniel said: “We have crude oil but don’t produce any. Cargo planes deliver tens of millions of items on our soil daily, but departs empty. Our political class influenced almost all citizens to believe in foreign products over ours as they don’t only live on things manufactured on foreign soils but run abroad even for simple medical checkup. The Naira has become scared of itself.
“Nigeria and Nigerians are now largely a subject of many negative discourse amongst other nations and their citizens. We, the New Hope, are up to fix that.
“The old political class has only records of promising heaven and earth just to suit the ears of the masses, but entirely turn to predators and dictators when elected. The craving for foreign goods and loaning from foreign lands to buy foreign good and service must end.
“Our leaders daily become the very opposite of their words and actually became what they were elected to change.
“Civilian dictatorship has become the order of the day. Citizens beg to hear from their leaders as lies thrive more on the lips of those trusted to lead than truth. Propaganda and blame games are now common in Nigeria.
“As the New Hope, we will establish tens of millions of jobs, wipe off insecurity, give room for best brains and overhaul our educational system to produce experts to drive for global best practices.”
