Why The APC And PDP Must Be Wary About Labour Party’s In Road Matters Arising By Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah

Without a doubt, the presidential elections in 2023 will be a close battle for all of the contestants in that anything can happen, and the advocacy on the path of the youths can never be overemphasized by me, and to that end, I would continue to offer my advice to the political players on where their strengths and weaknesses lie.

Welcome to another edition of a soul search on who among the contestants is truly breaking new ground; please take note of my keywords in this article to properly understand my unbiased point of view on the Clash Of The Titans. Today’s analysis is based on new converts in relationship to the statistics of registered voters.

Two days ago, I wrote about the dangers of the APC campaign riding on goodwill for the Jagaban without including the third force, the youths. The APC is riding on past glory, which happens to be STALLED when it comes to electioneering. Youths are the driving force behind electoral campaigns and must not be overlooked.

I also elaborated that the PDP and APC are both suffering from the same issues related to running their campaigns in the old-school way, which is quickly fading as the general elections approach.

Then I went on to talk about Labour Party supporters and how toxic they were; in all fairness, I was praised for the unbiased reporting and its implications for all political parties. Today, I’d like to state unequivocally why the APC and PDP should be wary of the LP and its newfound advocacy for democracy.

As a journalist, content creator, Principal and Senior Lecturer at Bush Radio Academy (where we train writers), I personally belong to thousands of WhatsApp groups where I interact with my community and receive direct feedback from thousands of respondents across the country and in the diaspora.

I belong to hundreds of pro-Atiku groups, thousands of pro-Tinubu groups, and hundreds of pro-Peter Obi groups; the majority of these groups I never asked to join, and they have the option of removing me from the group if they so desire.

In all honesty, the PDP campaign organization is dead in the media space, whereas the Tinubu campaign organization retains its rating prior now, and the Peter Obi groups, which sprout up like seeds constantly being watered, are having a great time.

The Tinubu campaign groups continue to run their campaigns in the same manner as in the past, positioning Tinubu as the best candidate for the position and emphasizing his strong points. The group appears to be reliant on the Top To Bottom strategy.

Then  comes in the Obi group,  these set of people are only busy organizing cell outreach and meetings, their style of outreach is novel and should be on the radar of oppositional parties, take for instance Peter Obi’s birthday was yesterday and all pro Obi groups where busying outshining themselves holding an activity for Peter Obi.

You can’t underestimate the vibrancy of people who don’t care about the LP’s PARENT organizational campaign structure but are busy building their own; their mosquito campaign method entails getting participants to participate on a daily basis. Physical attendance is required for these activities, which differs from traditional online participation.

If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together, this is what the Obidient people are applying,  dem say hand join hand na make rice plenty for pot. It has taken an independent dimension on its own.

Matters Arising:

The APC’s support base can be predicted as the traditional voters who turn out to vote in each electoral circle. According to calculations, the APC would win the South West and pick up votes from every other region because it has the traditional structure, which includes its governors, representatives, and appointees.

With this same analysis, the PDP would be defeated, and the Labour Party would be completely cremated. However the harsh reality in todays postulations is that the emphasis here is on new converts and voter turnout statistics.

Currently, approximately 35% of registered voters vote, despite the fact that there is an excess pool of over 65 percent of voters, totaling over 70 million voters, who never vote.

This is what I call “virgin votes,” and the irony is that all of these people who refuse to vote are SICK and TIRED of the country and its numerous problems. If the virgins voted, the ruling class would be in big trouble. However, thanks to what the Obi people are doing, there is a paradigm shift in voter apathy, as the people are now confident that their vote will count.

The demographics of Peter Obi’s supporters now appear to be Osinbajo’s apologists in the APC who would have considered voting if the VP won the APC presidential ticket.

That is for the APC, let us take a peep at the PDP. Obi left with the majority of the PDP youths, which is why Atiku’s campaign appears to be in a coma.

My advice to Peter Obi’s supporters is that they are doing well; they should just tone down their toxic approach and understand that some Nigerians believe they are already LIVING IN HELL and are unconcerned about how hellish it can be again, so they will never bother to vote; telling them that “suffer never tire them” no go change their mind, people wey no get “hope for changes” what is the point telling them if they are not tired of suffering?

Tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today; keep up your efforts because tomorrow is just around the corner. Go after the over 70 million undecided voters, and the sky is the limit.

Then, in my honest opinion, for the APC, get your media team in order; running the game with old-school tactics will not work; the tide is turning against them, partly due to the perceived failure of Buhari, which, ironically, is relative. I personally believe Buhari has performed better than the majority of State Governors, but they lack effective marketing strategies for Buhari.

In all honesty, Buhari has done a good job of establishing a solid electoral system, which is the only legacy for which he can be hailed as a hero.

Now let us look at the structure the APC relied upon in Osun that failed them.

The PDP has two representatives in the House of Representatives, while the APC has the rest. The PDP has one Senator out of the three. The PDP has only two members in the Osun State Assembly, with the rest belonging to the APC. Now consider these others, The Governor, the Deputy Governor, the Speaker, the Deputy Speaker, and all of the Commissioners.

Consider once more the DGs, SSAs, SSG, Tinubu factor, Omisore, who also happens to be the party’s National Secretary, Bisi Akande, and numerous others. Yet how come they couldn’t ensure that the APC kept the state despite all of these so-called structures being heavily involved in local and national politics?
If you want to know the end look at the beginning. The APC as the ruling party is already on the RADAR of the electorate so all means should be deployed in marketing the party.

An African proverb states that even an ant can harm an elephant. Change up your campaign’s old-school structure and get to work. I was a Big Man Before no be excuse for FAILURE.

Then there’s the PDP. I believe that the same advice that applies to the APC also applies to the PDP; they must reinvent their campaign structure and figure out how to make their youth wing vibrant. It’s funny how old school people today forget that the parents of these youths now listen more to their wards, whereas it used to be the other way around.

In the past, it was simpler for a father to order his children to vote for a specific candidate, but today, thanks to DIASPORA, it is simpler for the child to ORDER the parents to vote for a specific candidate.
