Keyamo Reacts To Ex-SGF Babachir Lawal’s Threat To Back Atiku
A spokesman for the APC campaign council, Festus Keyamo has reacted to a threat made by Babachir Lawal, a party chieftain and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
In an interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation on Tuesday, Babachir vowed to ensure that the APC fails to win the presidential election in 2023 because it fielded a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
According to the former SGF, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, offended many Christian leaders in the party when he settled for a Muslim running mate after using them to win the primary.

He said, “I am not for Bola Tinubu now. I am not for a Muslim-Muslim ticket. It is Bola who did not want to go with us; he chose where he wanted to go, and we told him that we would not vote for him if he did a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
“PDP discussed with us and they agreed to do what we want if we support them and we agreed to support them. You see the problem of the northerners, if you say you are a Christian, it is difficult for us to get a job.”
Reacting, the spokesman for the APC campaign council, Festus Keyamo, said he did not see how Lawal, who could not win his constituency in previous elections, planned to stop Tinubu.
He said, “We wish him luck. He has a right to make a decision. But as the campaign team of the party, we have moved on. He is just entitled to just one vote.
“I don’t know anything about his followers. But that didn’t even help him to win his constituency in the 2015 and 2019 elections.”
