Delta 2023: Why I Won’t Probe Okowa When Elected – Omo-Agege
Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Deputy President of the Senate and All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Delta State, has stated that if elected in 2023, his government will not seek vengeance against Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.
Omo-Agege stated this on Thursday in Patani, the first stop on his campaign train to the Delta South senatorial district. The campaign also visited the Patani Local Government Area communities of Agoloma and Uduophori.
He stated that despite the fact that there is nothing on the ground to justify the over N3.5 trillion in receipts that have flowed into Delta State over the last seven and a half years, he will not be distracted by looking back. Instead, he stated that he would press on with the task at hand and ensure that all developmental gaps left by the Okowa-led PDP were filled in order for the state to progress.

Omo-Agege bemoaned Patani’s poor infrastructure, which he claimed has remained unchanged 24 years after Raymos Guanah became council chairman. He claimed that the huge allocations received by Governor Okowa since 2015 on behalf of the local government area in terms of FAAC, 13% oil derivation, and 50% of 13% oil derivation had all been misappropriated.
In response to allegations that Okowa has interests in a newly licensed bank, he charged the governor with handing over the N235 billion recently paid to the state as 13 percent derivation arrears and not storing it in the bank, if the allegations were true.
“My government will not seek vendetta against Governor Okowa and his PDP; we will not be distracted by looking back at their misgovernance but will hit the ground running to develop Delta State. He should however, hand over the balance of N235 billion with him.”
