Oyo Lawmakers Pass N310.4bn Budget For 2023

Members of the Oyo State House of Assembly approved a budget for the year 2023 totaling three hundred and ten billion, four hundred and thirty-two million, five hundred thousand naira (N310,432,500,000.00).

The budget was approved by lawmakers in Ibadan on Thursday.

Adebo Ogundoyin, the Speaker, presided over the plenary.

Governor Seyi Makinde presented the 2023 budget proposal to lawmakers on November 3, 2022.

After hearing the reports of the House Committees on Public Accounts, Finance, and Appropriations, lawmakers approved the budget.

Ogundoyin, who spoke shortly after the passage, commended his colleagues for painstakingly scrutinizing and working on the budget proposal.

He described the efforts as a collective sacrifice aimed at ensuring that the next fiscal year is better than the outgoing year.

Ogundoyin said, “We worked round the clock, especially during the budget defence exercise held between the 16th November and 5th December, 2022 for Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Oyo State Government.

“Without the commitment of the management and staff of the Assembly, not much would have been achieved. We appreciate everyone’s contribution no matter how small.

“This has helped in no small measure in the successes recorded by the 9th Oyo State House of Assembly in 2022”.
