According to Reverend Samuel Bunmi Jenyo, Chairman of the Osun State Chieftaincy Affairs Review Committee and purported Personal Assistant to Governor Adeleke, the governor earned his degree in 24 days.

According to Rev. Jenyo, Adeleke graduated from Atlanta Metropolitan College on August 9, 2021, and Penn Foster High School on July 16, 2021.

At the resumed hearing of the petition filed by former governor Adegboyega Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress (APC) challenging the declaration of Ademola Adeleke as the governor of the State, Jenyo revealed this information on Friday while testifying before the tribunal chaired by Justice Tertsea Kume.

Oyetola and the APC are contesting Governor Adeleke’s declaration on the basis of excessive votes and his eligibility to run in light of apparent discrepancies in his certificates.

Adeleke’s diplomas from Penn Foster High School and Atlanta Metropolitan State College were presented by Rev. Jenyo.

During the cross-examination, he also admitted to the Tribunal that, despite never having worked for any of the institutions the Governor is said to have attended, he had access to the Governor’s academic records and certificates because it was part of his job as Adeleke’s personal assistant to keep the governor’s personal papers.

The witness added that despite the fact that his international passport did not indicate he attended Adeleke’s graduation in the United States, he claimed to have been present for the event. Following the cross-examination, Adeleke’s attorney ended the proceedings. Then, Alex Izinyon (SAN), counsel for PDP, launched his argument and informed the panel that he would not be calling any witnesses and would instead be relying on the testimony of the other two respondents. After presenting several documents, he concluded his point.

It will be noted that Governor Adeleke claimed to have registered for the GCE O’ Level in 1981, but that he only received an F9 in English Language and was absent for other subjects. Governor Adeleke ran for office in 2018 and won. But when the governor returned from abroad this year to run for governor in the July election, he allegedly asserted that he had been given a diploma in the middle of the previous year and that the said diploma qualified him for a B.Sc. in Criminal Justice from the Atlanta Metropolitan State College in the United States. And he asserted that he only took the degree after receiving the aforementioned diploma certificate, or about 24 days.
