Buhari Makes Fresh Demand From Security Agencies : 2023 Elections

President Muhammadu Buhari has urged security agencies that will provide various support services in the general elections in 2023 to maintain a high level of professionalism.

On Wednesday, Buhari inaugurated the newly acquired estate of the Defence Intelligence Agency, DIA, in Idu-Karmo, Abuja.

The president urged the agencies to handle classified material distribution and monitoring “professionally and in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.”

While reiterating his earlier directive to security agencies to remain apolitical, Buhari said they must avoid conduct that could bring disrepute to their organizations and the country “by undermining the democratic process.”

Buhari insisted that the newly acquired DIA Estate would boost productivity and coordination of activities of the agency’s staffers, given the growing number of personnel facing new challenges and responsibilities.

Buhari said: “I’m confident that these new premises will yield enormous shelter dividends to the Defence Intelligence Agency staffers, their families and to the host locality.”
