2027: APC Chieftain Olugbenga Omole Joins Ondo Assembly Race
A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Olugbenga Omole, has formally announced his intention to contest for a seat in the Ondo State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general election. According to political observers, Omole, who previously served as Special Adviser on Transport to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, aims to represent Akoko South West Constituency I.
Omole made his declaration on Sunday, April 5, during a community empowerment event in Oka-Akoko, where he also unveiled a ₦20 million development fund designed to support youths, students, artisans, market women, farmers, transport workers, women’s groups, and religious leaders.
The APC leader explained that his return to the Assembly is guided by a “social contract” with his constituents, referencing his prior tenure from 2019 to 2023. “I stand before you today to continue quality representation and ensure that the dividends of democracy reach our people,” he stated.
If elected, Omole pledged to focus on youth empowerment, infrastructure expansion, inclusive governance, and the creation of additional Local Council Development Areas within the constituency. “Oka should have up to three LCDAs. I will also liaise closely with community leaders to address pressing local needs,” he added.
Reflecting on his previous legislative period, Omole highlighted achievements such as creating employment opportunities in government agencies, supporting the Amotekun Corps, distributing COVID-19 relief palliatives, and advancing grassroots sports, adult literacy, vocational education, and agricultural initiatives.
As part of his consultations, Omole visited the Olubaka of Oka, Yusuf Adebori Adeleye, and the Asin of Iwaro Oka, Omoyejola Pius Akande, securing royal blessings and guidance to prioritize infrastructure projects across Oka communities.
Governor Aiyedatiwa, through the State Universal Basic Education Board Chairman, Victor Olabimtan, endorsed Omole’s candidacy, describing him as a “tested and trusted leader.” APC State Chairman Kolawole Babatunde also praised Omole’s contributions and reiterated the party’s commitment to ensuring full support for its candidates across all levels.
