According to Ireporter Online, renowned Nigerian fashion designer and entrepreneur Oluwaseyi Adekunle, popularly known as Seyi Vodi, has opened up about the origins of his financial journey, revealing how his first earnings came during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) year.

He disclosed that at the time, the corps members’ monthly allowance was increased from ₦1,000 to ₦3,600, a development he said became the modest starting capital that later helped shape his business path. He explained that unlike many of his colleagues who spent their stipends on clothing from local markets, he chose to take a different financial approach, prioritizing value creation over consumption.

Seyi Vodi further reflected on his growth in the fashion industry, emphasizing his belief that top designers in the global fashion space often accumulate more wealth than even politicians in some Western countries. He also recounted receiving a major offer of $300,000 from an unnamed individual to provide a service, contrasting it with earlier experiences of earning as little as ₦500.

In a related highlight of his success story, it was recalled that the designer celebrated his 50th birthday by gifting himself a 2025 Rolls-Royce Cullinan reportedly valued at about ₦1 billion, which was flown into Nigeria via private jet as part of the celebration. His fashion brand continues to command high-profile patronage, with notable clients including top political figures and leading Nigerian entertainers.
