35 Nigerians, Including Children, Deported from Ireland
A total of 35 Nigerian nationals have been deported from the Republic of Ireland, according to reports confirmed on June 7, 2025.
The deportees, which included 21 men, nine women, and five children, were returned to Nigeria on a chartered flight that departed from Dublin Airport on Wednesday night and arrived in Nigeria on Thursday.
The Irish Mirror reported that the flight experienced an unscheduled stopover due to a medical emergency on board. Nevertheless, Irish Minister for Justice, Jim O’Callaghan, confirmed that all deportees successfully returned to Nigeria.
Although Irish authorities did not specify the reasons for the deportations, O’Callaghan stated that Ireland operates a “rules-based immigration system,” adding that it was essential for such rules to be “robust and enforced.”
The development underscores Ireland’s continued commitment to upholding its immigration policies while managing its international obligations.
