emphasized that although Chidimma finished as the first runner-up in the prestigious pageant held in Mexico, her unwavering determination, coupled with strong support from Nigeria, led to her success. In addition to her runner-up position, Chidimma was also crowned Miss Africa and Oceania 2024.
In a statement issued by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, NIDCOM’s Director of Media, Public Relations, and Protocols, Dabiri-Erewa highlighted Chidimma’s focus and determination in achieving her goals. She also reflected on Chidimma’s controversial withdrawal from the Miss South Africa 2024 competition, where she had made it to the finals, noting how Nigeria welcomed her after her forced exit from South Africa.
Chidimma was warmly received upon her arrival in Nigeria, where she was hosted by the President of the Silverbird Group, Mr. Guy Murray Bruce. A grand reception was held in her honor at “The Temple” in Victoria Island, with music legend Dbanj in attendance. Dabiri-Erewa praised Chidimma for her brilliance, focus, and determination, urging other Nigerians to follow her example of national pride and resilience.
The 73rd Miss Universe competition, widely regarded as one of the most exciting in recent years, celebrated the beauty, intelligence, and grace of women from all over the world. Chidimma’s second-place finish placed her behind Miss Denmark, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, who claimed the crown from Miss Universe 2023, Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua.
It’s also important to note that Chidimma faced challenges during her journey. She was initially rejected by South Africa due to questions surrounding her nationality, which led her to represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe Nigeria contest, where she was crowned Miss Universe Nigeria by the Silverbird Group.
