Nigeria’s Green Future: FG Aims To Restore 1 Million Hectares Of Land By 2028

Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Azerbaijan.
Lawal highlighted the objectives of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project, which uses Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for integrated catchment management to address significant environmental challenges in the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
“The ACReSAL project aims to promote sustainable climate-resilient practices while tackling environmental issues across the region. It integrates watershed management, land restoration, and community resilience to improve food security and reduce poverty through climate-smart agriculture,” said Lawal.
The Minister emphasized that the project aligns with Nigeria’s broader commitment to combat climate change, foster sustainable development, and empower local communities with innovative solutions for long-term environmental health.
Lawal also reassured the public of Nigeria’s ongoing dedication to adopting best environmental practices to ensure a safer and more sustainable future for all.
