to the 2027 elections. Speaking over the weekend, Jibrin welcomed several former NNPP members from the ward of the party’s national leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as well as from the camp of the state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The defections were spearheaded by Yahaya Sa’idu Kwankwaso, a former councillor from Kwankwaso Ward in Madobi Local Government, Hon. Abdulhamid Ahmad Diso, former deputy speaker of Gwale LGA, and Hon. Shu’aibu Isa Kubaraci, alongside their supporters. Additionally, Hon. Garba Alhassan Dawaki, a notable figure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led the defection of former PDP councillors and members from Dawakin Kudu LGA to the APC.

In a statement by Jibrin’s media adviser, Ismail Mudashir, the defectors cited Jibrin’s developmental achievements in Kano as a key factor in their decision to join the APC. While welcoming the new members, Jibrin assured them of equal opportunities within the APC, emphasizing the party’s inclusive nature.

“This massive shift of NNPP members to the APC marks the direction of politics in Kano as we approach 2027,” Jibrin declared. “The NNPP is no longer significant in Kano North, and in Kano South, the APC is set to take control of what’s left of the NNPP, which now has a limited presence in a few areas of Kano Central.”

Senator Jibrin further pledged to collaborate with the new members to accelerate Kano State’s development and support President Bola Tinubu’s national agenda for progress and prosperity.
