Abiodun Ayoyinka Reveals The Truth About Papa Ajasco – Wale Adenuga Speaks
According to industry sources, Wale Adenuga, MFR, Chairman and Executive Producer of Wale Adenuga Productions, has responded to recent statements made by Abiodun Ayoyinka, renowned for his portrayal of Papa Ajasco on the hit sitcom Papa Ajasco and Company. Adenuga described his initial reaction to the viral video of Ayoyinka as seeing the iconic character brought into the public sphere.
Adenuga praised Ayoyinka for his portrayal of Papa Ajasco, noting that he closely resembles the original cartoon version he created in 1976. He emphasized that their relationship remains amicable and expressed concern over the wave of misinformation and emotional commentary that has followed Ayoyinka’s interview.
Highlighting Ayoyinka’s background, Adenuga noted that the actor served the Lagos State Government for over 30 years, including as the face of the state cultural troupe, and retired recently. Adenuga clarified that Ayoyinka has benefited from multiple cars provided during his career and owns a property in Ogun State, countering claims that he has no personal assets.
On the issue of using the Papa Ajasco brand for personal ventures, Adenuga explained that the copyright on the brand prevents such use to protect its integrity. He added that Ayoyinka has not been barred from accepting advertising opportunities, provided official approval from Wale Adenuga Productions (WAP) is obtained.
Addressing Ayoyinka’s claims of financial difficulty, Adenuga questioned why the actor has not leveraged his long career in both government service and entertainment for personal investment. He stressed that WAP artists have flexibility to pursue other projects during the six weeks they spend filming yearly, while the show continues to produce enough episodes to air throughout the year.
The Papa Ajasco and Company series continues to air on NTA, STV, WAPTV, and other terrestrial and cable networks, as well as online platforms. Adenuga reiterated that WAP maintains professional, timely, and fair working relationships with all artists and crew members.
