The looming blackout threat, slated to commence on February 28, 2024, serves as a wake-up call for defaulting MDAs to settle their debts within 10 days, as stated in the notice of disconnection released on Monday.
Among the delinquent agencies listed are key players like the Ministry of Finance, Information, Budget, Works and Housing, as well as crucial institutions such as the Nigeria Police Force, Presidential Villa, and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Even regulatory bodies like the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) are not exempt.
Expressing frustration over past unsuccessful attempts to recover the dues, the Abuja Disco emphasized the necessity of this drastic measure to compel compliance.
As the countdown to disconnection begins, these government entities are urged to heed the warning and settle their outstanding bills promptly to avert the impending power crisis.
