In a statement issued on Saturday, Chidera commended Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, for ensuring a smooth hearing. He also praised the former Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Kanu Agabi, for leading Kanu’s defense and Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN, for his professional conduct as the prosecution’s representative.
During the hearing, Kanu, through his lead counsel, Kanu Agabi, apologized to the court, the judiciary, and Federal Government lawyers for his previous outbursts in court. In a notable turn of events, Kanu also called for peace and non-violence in the reconciliation process.
Chidera highlighted the judiciary’s crucial role in justice, quoting Justice Omotosho’s statement that the court is a “temple of justice” and operates under divine principles. He also commended the judge’s gesture of extending an apology to Kanu, reinforcing the need for fairness and trust in the legal process.
According to Chidera, this case serves as a testament to the resilience of Nigeria’s judiciary, strengthened by the wisdom of legal professionals and the leadership of the presiding judge.
