GOODWILL MESSAGE FROM THE HONOURABLE MINISTER OF REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT, ENGR. ABUBAKAR MOMOH FNSE, ON THE OCCASION OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2025

It is with great joy and profound respect that I join the global community in celebrating International Women’s Day 2025, a day set aside to recognize and honor the immense contributions of women in shaping our societies, economies, and governance.

This year’s theme, “Accelerate Action,” highlights the urgent need for deliberate and swift actions toward gender equality, economic empowerment, and women’s inclusion in leadership. Across our nation, Nigerian women have continued to demonstrate resilience, innovation, and excellence in various spheres of life. They are the backbone of our families, the driving force of our communities, and key players in national development.

At the Federal Ministry of Regional Development, we remain committed to implementing policies and initiatives that prioritize swift and impactful interventions for women’s empowerment. Through infrastructural development, economic inclusion, and capacity-building programs, we will continue to create opportunities that enable women to thrive in both urban and rural areas.

As we commemorate this significant day, I urge all stakeholders—government agencies, private sector leaders, and civil society—to move beyond rhetoric and accelerate action in breaking down barriers that hinder women’s progress. Together, we can foster a society where every woman has the resources, support, and opportunities to reach her full potential.
