In a statement released to the press by its National Vice Chairman for the South-East, Chilos Godsent, the ADC emphasized the potential benefits of a democratic local government council system in Imo State. It asserted that such a system has the capacity to economically and politically empower over 10,000 youths in the state, leading to rapid development in rural communities and a significant reduction in crime.

The ADC highlighted the positive impact of democratic local government councils on leadership capacity and competence among youths who would occupy positions such as council chairmen, deputy chairmen, councilors, and supervisory councilors.

Furthermore, the ADC aligned itself with the popular opinion that a democratic local government system would contribute to reducing insecurity and crime rates in the state. It argued that many youths engage in organized crime due to unemployment and economic hardship, emphasizing the role of idle minds in fostering criminal activities.

The statement also criticized the use of local government caretaker committees, transition committees, and sole administrators by successive governments in Imo State over the past 16 years. The ADC accused these administrations of using such committees as conduits for looting local government funds.

In conclusion, the ADC affirmed its commitment to leading the struggle for regime change in Imo State, signaling its determination to advocate for democratic governance and accountability in local government administration.
