Guardiola indicated that Kyle Walker’s recovery process will take a bit longer, while John Stones is anticipated to return to full fitness soon.

During the match against Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium, Ake sustained an injury and was substituted for Rico Lewis in the 27th minute. The Dutch defender’s injury adds to City’s defensive woes, as both Kyle Walker and John Stones were previously sidelined due to injuries sustained while on international duty with England.

Walker picked up his injury during a match against Brazil on March 23, while Stones sustained his injury in a game against Belgium on March 26.

Guardiola had to navigate the game against Arsenal without these key players, which contributed to City’s failure to find the net in front of their home crowd.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Guardiola acknowledged that Ake’s fitness issues could be attributed to his recent heavy workload, playing two matches within the same week.

He stated, “It is what it is. [Ake] played two games this week [including] with the national team in Holland. John will be better soon, I think. Kyle will be longer, now Nathan will be longer.”

Manchester City currently occupies the third position on the league table, trailing first-placed Liverpool by three points and Arsenal by a single point.
