The 2024–2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season has been a pivotal one for Kano Pillars FC, highlighted by the return of two football icons, Ahmed Musa and Shehu Abdullahi. Their homecoming has not only sparked excitement among fans but also played a significant role in the team’s performance and dynamics………READ MORE

Ahmed Musa, who previously made history with Kano Pillars in the 2009–2010 season, returned in October 2024 with a wealth of international experience. The former Leicester City forward has been instrumental for the team, scoring six goals in 18 appearances and demonstrating exceptional leadership on and off the pitch. Interim head coach Ahmed Garba Yaro-Yaro praised Musa’s dedication, emphasizing his intense personal training and strategic influence during matches.

Similarly, Shehu Abdullahi, after facing setbacks abroad, rejoined Kano Pillars in October 2024. The versatile defender has struggled with match fitness but is gradually adapting to the NPFL’s physical style. Despite making 12 appearances, he is still working towards full form, with Yaro-Yaro highlighting the stark contrast between his technical approach and the league’s aggressive nature.

Kano Pillars’ performance this season has been a mix of highs and lows. As of March 10, 2025, the team has played 28 matches, securing 12 wins, six draws, and ten losses, placing them sixth on the league table with 42 points. However, defensive inconsistencies remain a challenge, with 32 goals scored and 33 conceded.

The club has also faced coaching instability. Former head coach Paul Offor was dismissed due to poor results, followed by the suspension of Usman Abdallah after an altercation with fans. In the midst of this turmoil, club legend Yaro-Yaro took over as interim head coach, bringing renewed discipline and stability. His leadership has earned him growing support for a permanent appointment.

As the season progresses, the influence of Musa, Abdullahi, and Yaro-Yaro could be crucial in Kano Pillars’ push for a stronger finish. Their experience and leadership may prove vital in securing a higher position in the NPFL standings.
