“Ajax Boss Hails Osimhen As Europe’s Next Drogba Ahead Of Champions League Clash”

According to Ireporter Online, Ajax manager John Heitinga has heaped praise on Galatasaray’s Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, describing him as one of the best forwards in Europe ahead of their UEFA Champions League encounter at the Johan Cruyff Arena on Wednesday night.

Speaking to sports journalists in Amsterdam, Heitinga acknowledged the immense threat posed by Osimhen and stressed the importance of neutralizing the forward if Ajax hopes to turn their campaign around.

“I can compare Osimhen to legends like Didier Drogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic,” Heitinga remarked. “He combines strength, speed, and an excellent physique. We must be very attentive because, in my opinion, he is Galatasaray’s most dangerous player.”

The Dutch coach admitted that Ajax has endured a difficult season so far but expressed optimism that playing in front of their home supporters could provide the much-needed boost to secure their first points in the group stage.

“We want to climb higher on the table. I’m confident we’ll perform well against Galatasaray and hopefully get on the scoresheet. It feels good to play at home — our fans will push us forward,” he said.

While acknowledging Galatasaray’s impressive form — including their remarkable home victory over Liverpool — Heitinga insisted that Ajax is capable of competing strongly.

“I’ve watched several of Galatasaray’s games. They are a very strong team, especially at home, but we’ve analyzed their style and prepared accordingly,” he noted.

Heitinga cautioned his players against losing concentration, warning that Galatasaray’s pace and attacking precision could be punishing if Ajax gives them too much space.

“Galatasaray plays very fast and often dominates the first half. We must stay compact and avoid unnecessary turnovers. Tomorrow will be a real battle,” he added.

Providing an update on team fitness, the Ajax boss revealed that Kasper Dolberg had returned earlier than expected, while Steven Berghuis and Branco van den Boomen are still recovering from injuries.

Reflecting on their previous 2-1 win over Galatasaray in the Europa League, Heitinga admitted that both teams have evolved since then but emphasized the importance of consistency.

“We’ll be facing a very good side. Although our team is still finding full cohesion, we’re determined to show that we can win. We’ve prepared intensely, and if we’re going to earn points, it has to be tomorrow,” he concluded.
