Akpabio Denies Allegations Of Plotting With Yahaya Bello To Harm Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has dismissed allegations made by suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who claimed that Akpabio conspired with Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and former governor Yahaya Bello to assassinate her.

During her Sallah Homecoming rally in Okehi, Kogi State, on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, Natasha alleged that Akpabio, along with the current and former Kogi governors, had plotted to eliminate her. Natasha further claimed that Akpabio subsequently involved Yahaya Bello in the scheme. According to her, Senator Asuquo facilitated Bello’s attendance at a meeting where two main points were discussed: commencing her recall and allegedly plotting her assassination, with instructions that the act should take place in Okehi to make it appear as a local incident. Natasha stated that although she refrained from making the information public initially, she reported the matter to law enforcement agencies.

In response, Eseme Eyiboh, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Senate President, refuted the allegations, stating that Akpabio would not be distracted by the claims. Eyiboh emphasized that the burden of proof lies with Senator Natasha, as the principle of law dictates that anyone making an accusation must substantiate it.

He reiterated that Akpabio remains focused on his legislative duties, working collaboratively with fellow senators and the executive branch to deliver renewed hope for Nigeria, rather than being sidetracked by unproven accusations.
