Amaechi Rejects ADC Presidential Primary Results, Says ‘I Won’t Accept It
Former Rivers State Governor and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has rejected the outcome of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary conducted on Monday, describing the results as manipulated and lacking credibility.
According to reports, Amaechi, in a statement released on Tuesday, alleged that the exercise was marred by widespread irregularities and the exclusion of a significant number of party members from the voting process. He maintained that he had earlier made it clear he would only accept the outcome of the primary if it was conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner.
The former minister declared that the results being announced were “concocted,” insisting that the process failed to meet acceptable democratic standards. He argued that the alleged disenfranchisement of party members across the country severely undermined the integrity of the election.
Amaechi further questioned the credibility of the exercise, stating that a situation where a large percentage of party members were unable to participate in the voting process was unacceptable. He warned that such developments could damage the party’s democratic image and raise concerns about its commitment to fairness.
The development is expected to intensify internal tensions within the ADC as the party continues preparations for the 2027 general election and moves to finalize its presidential nomination process. As of the time of filing this report, the leadership of the party had yet to officially respond to the allegations raised by Amaechi.
