Angela Okorie Issues Warning To Parents Over Kissing Children On The Mouth
Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has cautioned parents against the practice of kissing their children on the mouth, urging them to prioritize the health and safety of young ones. According to Ireporter Online, the actress shared her concerns via her Instagram story, questioning why some parents overlook kissing children on the cheek and instead engage in mouth-to-mouth contact.
Angela described the habit as unnecessary and outdated, emphasizing that children should be shielded from germs and infections commonly carried by adults. She noted that children, due to their age and developing immunity, do not need such exposure and should be protected as much as possible.
The actress further expressed concern over individuals who extend the practice of mouth-kissing to both their parents and their children, questioning why traditional displays of affection, such as cheek-kissing, are no longer considered appropriate. Her remarks generated widespread reactions online, with Angela wondering whether her stance reflected old-fashioned thinking or a genuine concern for proper child care and hygiene.
She stressed that affection can still be shown without compromising a child’s health, encouraging parents to adopt safer alternatives. The comments quickly sparked debate across social media platforms, with many users sharing differing opinions on parenting, hygiene, and cultural expressions of affection.
This issue has been raised previously by other public figures. Ireporter Online recalls that media personality Toolz, after welcoming her child, publicly appealed to Nigerians to refrain from kissing her baby. Similarly, Mabel Makun, former wife of comedian Ayo Makun, had earlier questioned the appropriateness of kissing a child that is not one’s own.
