Another Bauchi Resident Arrested For Spreading Fake Appointment Offers

Security sources disclosed that the case was moved from the Area Command in Bauchi Metropolis on May 18, 2026, as detectives intensified efforts to unravel the alleged fraud network behind the fake employment offers.

According to police findings, operatives recovered five forged temporary appointment letters allegedly produced by the suspect. Investigators further revealed that the suspect was believed to have forged and printed fake employment documents in 2025, presenting them as authentic government-issued appointment letters.

Authorities alleged that the forged documents were used to deceive unsuspecting job seekers, with victims reportedly paying between ₦500,000 and ₦750,000 each in exchange for promises of securing government employment opportunities. Preliminary investigations later confirmed that the appointment letters were fake and carried no official validity.

The latest arrest comes shortly after the police arrested and prosecuted two other suspects in a similar employment scam following complaints reportedly lodged by the Office of the Head of Civil Service.

Police authorities stated that investigations are still ongoing and assured that the suspect would be charged in court upon completion of the probe if found culpable. The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, also warned residents against dealing with individuals or groups demanding money in exchange for job offers, urging members of the public to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
