As the PDP battles with its leadership tussle so also is the All Progressives Congress, APC battling with party intrigues ahead of its National Convention that would usher in a new set of leadership to guide the party through the coming general elections.

Following the internal battle for the control of the Peoples Democratic Party’s leadership, one would think only the opposition party is having its battle of wits.

An interesting battle of succession in the All Progressive Congress is sure set to take over the shine from the PDP if feelers from our news desk are anything to go by. Information reaching us has it on good authority that two former Governors who are top runners in the race for the APC National Chairmanship seat are set to withdraw from the race any moment from now.

According to our sources, the reason for their withdrawal is not far-fetched, rather they are relatable problems that apply to modern age administration. Let us do justice to the information privy to us.

The two ex-Governors who happen to be from the North have been accused of various offenses that their grassroots and mobilization team have chipped in the ideal of the difficulty in marketing their candidacy due to some worrisome factors.

One of the ex-Govs who was furious about the development has called his close aides to monitor the recent development and get back to him within the next 48 hours on the likely marketability of his candidacy following the recent development.

They are of the stance that integrity and uprightness should be key factors in shortlisting potential aspirants.

That was part of the statement credited to the group. This particular ex-Governor in question is currently embroiled with EFCC’s palaver that he’s considering pulling out of the race.

The other Ex-governor seems to have an age issue with his candidacy, according to our sources there is immense pressure on him to withdraw from the race due to his old age, they say his candidacy is not membership friendly as they claim he’s way too old to act as a fence mender which is more of the work of a party National Chairman.

” You see we can not allow a National Chairman that is very old and unable to bring peace to contending forces within the party. Our president ought not to be meddling in party affairs, so how do you expect an old man to move around the states coordinating unity and peaceful coexistence amongst party stakeholders? We have a general election coming soon, so many electoral issues would spring up arising from primaries and other domestic party affairs, how do you expect a weak National Chairman to move the party unitedly to achieve victory in the general elections? That was how a stakeholder was quoted as saying.

If the information available to us is credible then expect a pull out from the contest from these two ex-Governors any moment from now.

Meanwhile, the chairmanship aspiration of Saliu Mustapha is gathering serious momentum as the Kwara State aspirant is sweeping members of the party by numbers. Stakeholders are rooting for him because of his years of experience as a party leader and his unparallel loyalty to the party, they see him as a bridge-builder who is out to build a formidable structure for all seasons.

They claim he’s a man with great innovative ideas for the party and one who is committed to the equality of all members in terms of reward and patronage to party stakeholders. if Saliu by chance emerges as the APC national chairman then the party may be set for a new dawn.
