According to Ireporter Online, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has criticized Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro over the approach to ongoing peace efforts within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Wike made the remarks on Wednesday during the 106th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting organised by the Abdulrahman Mohammed faction in Abuja.

Wike urged rivals to be transparent about their intentions and cautioned against secretive manoeuvres. He stated, “Minority leader, when you are talking about reconciliation, come with your terms so that we will know. Concrete proposals are required, not last-minute moves. I do not like those who negotiate at night and make noise during the day. Peace efforts should be open and aboveboard.”

The minister affirmed that his faction remains firmly in control of the party’s machinery, buoyed by Monday’s Court of Appeal ruling that upheld the current caretaker leadership. While expressing openness to reconciliation, Wike stressed that it would only take place on his faction’s terms.

He also dismissed claims that his service in the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration made him a “mole” within the PDP. “Those who accused me of being the problem are now in APC, yet I remain in PDP,” he said.

Wike further insisted that the PDP’s upcoming National Convention would proceed as planned, rejecting suggestions to form a new caretaker committee to placate aggrieved members. “The party has completed all logistical arrangements for the convention, including venue and fees. No alternative caretaker committee will be formed. The convention will proceed and all members are welcome to participate,” he added.
