The officials were targeting the fence of a building on Plot 416, allegedly owned by the Major General. One official recounted their experience, saying, “During the operation at Plot 416 in Sabon Lugbe, which belongs to the Major General, we encountered an incident.”

“When the demolition began, the Major General learned of the activity and dispatched two soldiers to investigate the situation.

“Upon arrival, the soldiers, driving a vehicle with covered license plates, blocked the exits to prevent the enforcement team from leaving the site, making threats that ‘someone must die today.’

“One soldier, Private Jamilu, approached the caterpillar operator, cocked his rifle, and demanded that he exit the vehicle under the threat of being shot. The operator complied but was immediately grabbed by the two soldiers, who assaulted him and tore his shirt.

“Private Jamilu then fired at the caterpillar’s four tires, rendering them flat. He called the Major General, who arrived with additional soldiers.

“The Major General ordered his men to detain the caterpillar operator, his site officer, and six enforcement officials, who were held hostage for several hours.

“Three Hilux vehicles were taken to the Major General’s residence, while others were left with flattened tires as a result of gunfire.

“When the DPO of Trademore arrived at the scene, the Major General refused to engage with her and she ultimately left, stating that she would return.
