Atalanta Fires Coach Ivan Juric After Fiery Clash With Lookman And Crushing Defeat To Sassuolo
According to Ireporter Online, Italian Serie A side Atalanta has dismissed head coach Ivan Juric following a disappointing 3–0 home defeat to newly-promoted Sassuolo and a reported altercation with Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman. The decision, announced on Monday, November 10, 2025, ends Juric’s brief tenure in Bergamo just months after succeeding long-time manager Gian Piero Gasperini.
Juric’s spell at the club has been marred by inconsistent performances, with Atalanta languishing in 13th place after managing only two wins in eleven league matches. The team has also struggled to find form in recent weeks, securing just six points from their last eight games.
In a statement issued by the club, Atalanta confirmed Juric’s departure along with that of his backroom staff—Matteo Paro, Miguel Veloso, Pablo Barbero, Stjepan Ostojic, and Michele Orecchio. The statement expressed gratitude for their efforts and extended best wishes for their future endeavors.
It was gathered that Juric’s position had been under review following mixed results in two crucial fixtures—against Marseille in the UEFA Champions League and Sassuolo in Serie A. While Atalanta triumphed over Marseille, that victory was overshadowed by an intense touchline argument between Juric and Lookman, which reportedly strained relations within the squad.
The subsequent 3–0 defeat to Sassuolo proved decisive, prompting the club’s management to take swift action. Reports in Italy indicate that former Monza and Fiorentina manager Raffaele Palladino has emerged as the frontrunner to replace Juric, with an official announcement expected soon.
Juric’s departure marks Atalanta’s first major managerial shake-up since the end of the Gasperini era and underscores the growing concern over the team’s sluggish start to the season. The club will now aim to stabilize its campaign and reignite hopes of competing for a European spot.
