The initiative is part of efforts to ease the financial strain on farmers whose communities have endured years of conflict and destruction. Zulum highlighted that rising fuel costs were hindering irrigation farming, a crucial aspect of agriculture in the region. The government aims to procure petroleum products at discounted rates and provide them to local farmers, helping them to continue their agricultural activities without facing undue economic burdens.

In addition to the petrol subsidy, the governor distributed essential farm inputs to over 5,000 farmers displaced by Boko Haram insurgents. The package included 2,000 bags of blended NPK fertilizer, 1,000 water pumps, 620 gasoline pumps, 380 solar-powered water pumps, sprayers, flexible hoses, pesticides, seeds, and more.

Zulum expressed gratitude to the federal government for its continued support in rebuilding and resettling affected communities. This initiative, he hopes, will provide much-needed relief to the agricultural sector and further the state’s recovery from the ravages of conflict.
