The National Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal, which convened in Asaba, Delta State, has invalidated the victory of Ngozi Okolie from the Labour Party (LP), who had been declared the winner of the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency of Delta State in February.

Initially, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared the Labour Party candidate as the winner of the federal legislative elections held on February 25, 2023.

He secured 53,879 votes, defeating his closest rival, the incumbent representative, Hon Ndudi Elumelu of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who received 33,456 votes, and Tony Nwaka of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who obtained 11,712 votes.

However, the tribunal’s verdict now declares Hon Ndudi Elumelu as the actual winner of the election. The tribunal’s decision was based on the finding that Ngozi Okolie was not genuinely endorsed by the Labour Party, as he was not a member of the party during the purported primary held on May 28, 2022.
