BREAKING: Details Of What APC Governors Discussed With Buhari And His Response To Them
Governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) umbrella have urged President Muhammadu Buhari to allow both old and new naira notes to coexist in order to alleviate suffering and bring relief to Nigerians.
Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, speaking to journalists in Hausa on Friday, said that while the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) collected over N2 trillion in old notes, it only printed N300 billion, which he believes is insufficient.
El-Rufai, who was accompanied by his Kano State counterpart, Abdullahi Ganduje, explained that even if the CBN wanted to implement the cashless policy, it should have printed half of what it mopped up, which should have been N1 trillion.

He stated that they informed the President that the masses are suffering and that traders are losing goods due to a lack of patronage. He specifically mentioned the tomatoes vendor who traveled to Lagos with their goods, but they all went to waste because there was no money to buy.
As a result, they urged President Buhari to reconsider his stance on the new policy.
Surprisingly, El-Rufai revealed that Buhari did not respond with a yes or no.
He revealed that the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), Atiku Bagudu, has returned to meet with the President privately in the hope of persuading him.
