BREAKING: FG Orders Senior Directors To Resign (DETAILS)
Following the reintroduction of the tenure policy in the Federal Civil Service, the Federal Government has instructed all directors of Grade Level 17 who have served for eight years to submit their retirement notices immediately.
This directive is in line with the revised Public Service Rules (PSR), section 020909.
The Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, had directed all ministries to implement the PSR. More than 512 directors who have spent eight years on the directorate cadre will be affected by the implementation of the revised Public Service Rules, 2021.

The memo states that affected directors should commence the process of documentation with the Administration Department for compulsory retirement and hand over to the most senior officers in their departments before exiting.
The revised document also introduced a tenure policy for Permanent Secretaries, stating that they will serve for four years, renewable subject to performance evaluation. It also specifies that directors who serve for eight years will retire compulsorily after the period.
The tenure policy was originally introduced in 2009 during the administration of late President Umaru Yar’Adua, and it is now being reintroduced to renew and reinvigorate the Federal Civil Service. The policy also applies to parastatals, agencies, and statutory corporations of the government.
