Protesters Burn ‘Corrupt’ Politicians’ Cars In Niger (VIDEO)
Videos circulating on social media show protesters in Niger burning luxury cars owned by corrupt politicians from the ousted government as a response to the deteriorating situation in the country, which has left them starving and living in misery.
The coup, carried out by a group of soldiers calling themselves the “National Council for the Restoration of Democracy and Security,” led to the removal of President Bazoum on July 26.
General Omar Tchiani, the former Commander of the Presidential Guard, is suspected to be the mastermind behind the coup.

Amid the unrest, the French Foreign Ministry announced plans to evacuate French and European citizens from Niger, starting on Tuesday. France has had troops in the region for ten years to assist in the fight against an Islamist insurgency, but some people feel that the former colonial power should not interfere in their internal affairs.
In response, thousands of supporters of the Niger military coup marched through the capital city, protesting against France and carrying Russian flags. They set fire to a door at the French Embassy before being dispersed by the army.
The leaders of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) met in Nigeria’s capital Abuja to discuss the situation in Niger, and the country’s military junta, along with other African military leaders, warned against any external interference in the country’s internal affairs.
